Assigning Threat Scores

Sention continually receives raw data from a multitude of open and closed source intelligence feeds. This data is assessed using Sention’s Threat Assessment models todetermine a Threat Score. The purpose of this process is to determine the likelihood that the threat will occur and consequences of this happening. Each threat is analysed across five severity levels and 16 risk variables to determine a Threat Score from 0.00 to 1.00. This score will then determine if a threat is:
• prioritised for further analysis and reporting on, or
• monitored for future impact, or
• closed as it has no potential to cause loss.
Once a Threat receives a priority classification, it will be designated as CURRENT or EMERGING and entered into the Sention Threat Portal.

Sention Threat Radar

The Sention Threat Radar is a visual plot of current threats, segregated by category. Each threat is represented by a number on the Threat Radar, in order of threat severity, and a descriptor of the threat included in the table below the radar.

Trigger Point Graphs

Trigger Point Graphs are included in each Threat Profile. Each trigger is allocated a CURRENT and POTENTIAL score based on it’s propensity to cause impacts. These scores are tallied to produce a total category score for the CURRENT level of threat posed and a forecast of the POTENTIAL increase to the threat level over time. These scores are then converted to Category Threat Scores, which are represented as a ratio between 0.0 and 1.0.
